Recent Donations - April 19, 2013

We are pleased, honored and proud to announce that The CT FTD Foundation has donated $20,000 to the following programs:

1. Kids’ Website – $10,000 The AFTD is in the process of designing and developing an engaging, educational website for children and teens. This website will provide age-appropriate information about FTD, interactive elements, tips and tools for coping with everyday challenges as well as ways for them to share with peers also affected by a parent with FTD. Our donation is the final piece of funding necessary to get this website up and running.

2. Drug Discovery - $5,000 The AFTD co-founded this program with The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF).  This provides the only organized funding program specifically to stimulate drug discovery for FTD. Gifts to this program are matched 2:1.

3. Friend of Rachel Program - $5,000 This program is designed to train undergraduate students (mainly from Columbia University) about dementia and caregiving. Students will be matched with people in the early stages of dementia. The idea is to maintain quality of life as well as giving a bit of respite time for the caregiver. Pre-professionals will also be trained about the personal aspects of dementias. Money will be used for research and training.

These donations were all made possible due to the kindness and generosity of family, friends and all those who supported our foundation in one way or another. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for honoring Kevin’s memory. We ARE, and WILL continue to make a difference in the lives of those affected with this devastating disease.
